As an Assistive Technology Professional on our Pathways to Success (PTS) team, you’ll use assistive technology to help people with disabilities overcome barriers to employment, develop new skills, and achieve their professional goals.
This full-time role combines creativity, teaching, and technology in an environment built on collaboration, compassion, and innovation.
Salary: $67,000–$72,000

About The Role
The Assistive Technology Professional plays a key role in helping people with disabilities (PWD) access meaningful employment through the innovative use of assistive technology.
You’ll conduct assessments, develop individualized training plans, and lead hands-on instruction to ensure every person can independently use the tools they need to thrive in the workplace. Your work will directly contribute to building career pathways and increasing accessibility across Louisiana.
What You’ll Do
- Research and evaluate new and emerging assistive technologies that improve employability for people with disabilities
- Conduct technology assessments to identify individual needs and measure progress through data tracking
- Provide one-on-one and group training on adaptive software and hardware, including accessibility tools for Windows, Apple, and Android systems
- Collaborate with employment specialists and employers to implement technology in real work environments
- Support Lighthouse employees in building adaptive skills with high tech tools for career advancement
- Develop and deliver technology workshops for clients and professionals
- Manage Lighthouse’s technology inventory and assistive equipment
- Advocate for inclusive employment practices by promoting awareness of assistive technology solutions among staff, employers, and community partners
What We’re Looking For
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, rehabilitation science, occupational therapy, or related field
- Certification: Completion of or current enrollment in a recognized assistive technology certification program such as ATACP (CSUN) or RESNA ATP
- Experience: Minimum 350 hours instructing people with disabilities in using assistive hardware, software, and emerging technologies
- Skills: Expertise in Windows, Microsoft Office, Apple, and Android accessibility features
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teaching abilities
- Detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable in dynamic environments
- Personality: Friendly, mission-driven, collaborative, and eager to innovate through technology
